Introductory Workshop
The heart and practice of child centered play therapy
This workshop is for anyone working with children and families; it offers participants the opportunity to learn about non directive Child Centered Play Therapy principles & practices in a safe and supportive environment. Many of the skills can be very successfully integrated into other counselling approaches, work roles and settings with children.
3-day workshop includes:
- An introduction into the wonderful world of CCPT and its theoretical framework and evidence base;
- Foundation of play and the importance of play in the child’s world;
- Principles and practice of CCPT including the 8 basic principles, therapeutic dimensions of the play therapy relationship, key healing messages and toys/equipment and space required;
- Practical considerations;
- Indications and contraindications for the use of CCPT;
- Core therapeutic skills development, reflective and empathic responding and therapeutic limit setting;
- Recognising and understanding the therapy process and evaluating the child’s internal progress, identifying therapeutic stages and themes of play;

This Workshop Is For Anyone Working With Children and Families including mental health professionals. Workshop1 includes:

- Deepening into the heart of Child Centered Play Therapy;
- How play heals, neurobiology and attachment through a trauma lenses;
- The fascinating field of Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology;
- Advanced Play Therapy skills development and sensitivity training;
- Working with nonverbal children, very young children and children in regressed states;
- Working with children in different stages in the Play Therapy process, identifying themes and stages within the childs play;
- Intake interview, case conceptualisation and treatment planning;
- What do I need to know about myself when working with children;
- Parents as part of the process;
- How Play Therapy practices can enhance your professional practice;
- The uniqueness of Play Therapy in helping children heal and grow.

CCPT Clinical program
Play Therapy Australia are excited to announce our dual certification in CCPT & Filial Family Therapy. Students will have the option of exiting after workshop 4 with a certification in Child Centered Play Therapy or continuing on with workshop 5 plus supervision to graduate with a certification in both fields. The Clinical program is for mental health professionals, counsellors, social workers, psychologists, art therapist, occupational therapist, dance therapist, creative art therapist, mental health nurses, psychotherapist and those in their final year of training in one of these fields. Other professions will be assessed via the application process. On completion of the program graduates will be eligible for registration with The Australian Play Therapists Association. The program offers an immersion process into humanistic child centered play therapy and therapeutic work with children. It provides the opportunity to learn from inspirational leaders and experts in the field of child centered play therapy from around the world. You will develop specialist advanced therapeutic skills and practices to work sensitively, empathically and effectively with children using this modality.
The first part of the Play therapy Clinical Program consists of 150 hours of training in which, 100 hours is face-to-face workshops being offered in 4 intensive modules, and 50 hours of online training. The dual certification will be 200 hours of training plus supervision.

Advanced CCPT Workshops

2 Day Intensive workshop held by a workshop facilitator and clinical supervisors.
This workshop is for registered Play Therapists to immerse in advanced clinical practice issues, shared experiences and develop a deeper understanding of Play Therapy.
