Naomi Button is an accredited mental health social worker with more than 17 years experience gained from her appointment to various professional positions within government Child and Adolescent outpatient psychiatric services. In addition, she has worked as a psychotherapist in private practice in Australia, the United Kingdom and South Africa in the domain of infant, child and adolescent mental health.
Informed by advanced clinical training from Play Therapy Australia and the Tavistock Clinic, Naomi specializes in providing contained reflective praxis to children, parents and families based on high standards of risk analysis and therapeutic care.
Naomi is an accredited member of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). She is a registered Play Therapist and clinical member of the Australian Play Therapists Association (APTA) and was previously, the president of APTA. In addition to her interest in working with clients, Naomi provides training, supervision, mentoring and clinical consultation to a variety of allied health and medical professionals in a number of therapeutic modalities. Naomi instructs mental health practitioners in Child Centered Play Therapy and filial therapy. Additional interests include supervising in narrative therapy, systemic family practice and attachment-based therapy. She also provides clinical training in directive and non-directive play therapy techniques, mental health psycho education and critical incident debriefing.
It is Naomi’s vision that all therapists working with young people and their families are provided opportunities to reflect on their work in order to gain new insights.
